March, 2011, my husband and I had a wonderful stay in Villa Pavone Reale, despite the spring rains. The villa is beautifully furnished and maintained with all modern conveniences. The upstairs living area was perfect for curling up with a book on rainy days. And the villa’s location in the hills above town invited long walks when the sun came out.
The area surrounding Cairo Montennotte offers several interesting day trips. We enjoyed separate trips to the seaport of Savonna, the pre-Iron Age caves at Balzi Rossi, glitzy Monte Carlo and just on the other side of the Italian-French border, the medieval town of Eze, perched on cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
For eating out locally, I highly recommend Ristorante “La Bruschetta” (tel. 019-504023) and, for an absolutely amazing gourmet meal, “La Locanda Dell’Angelo”, Via Roma, 32 in the neighboring town of Millesimo (tel. 019-585657). In fact, even casual local cafes reflected the Italian philosophy that good living is the point of existence!
Next year we will be back, with plans to visit Turin, a university town and the capital of the slow food movement.

Surprisingly good, brand new

We were with 15 (6 kids 12-16yrs) in Januari 2011
This place is nicely decorated, for the chefs there is a well equiped kitchen and the house is situated in the quiete mountains. A fresh Capuccino or a nice dinner is not far because Cairo is just a 2 minuts drive. Savona (20mins) is nice place with the cathedral and palacios.
With the tenniscourt and swimmingpool the offered package is perfect for kids (It was too cold to use the spacy swimmingpool) and adults.
Next year I am considering to book again. We will go a couple of times to the ski areas.
Recommended for: Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Italy at its best!

In my opinion, the description of the villa while is very accurate, it does not do justice to the location and quality of accommodation. The villa has been renovated to the highest standard in total sympathy with its surroundings. The layout is really lovely, with a gorgeous and vast kitchen. Here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or your evening meal looking out over the hills and trees. There is also a lovely terrace where you can enjoy a drink before dinner. The bedrooms are well appointed and the bathrooms luxurious. It would be suitable for both a winter or summer holiday.

The highlight of our stay was the fantastic pool where our family and friends started and finished every one of our days! The stunning views from the pool made this area our favorite spot for evening drinks!

We found the property very clean and well maintained. The caretaker was very attentive and provided guidance on good restaurants and places to visit.

I would recommend the property to all of our friends and in fact we will be returning there next year for a holiday. There are lovely hill walks nearby and the local village has many reasonably priced restaurants to suit every taste. This is Italy at its best!

Gorgeous estate in surprisingly nice area

The house is wonderful, spacious and very comfortable. The enormous kitchen is a great place to hang out, eat & drink and then relax by the pool. The area is full of surprises: the land around the house is wonderful for walking, running, relaxing. The town of Cairo Montenotte is little known to tourists, but is quite charming and offers plenty of nice to excellent restaurants and the nearby coast is breathtaking. Highly recommended.
